  • This is Will, he is the grandson and great- grandson of two of our retired members, Fire Chief Orlando Abate & his son, Battalion Chief Lonnie Abate; both with a combined 62 years of service. Will was 4 years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. He has been fighting for a little over a year now. Will has endured multiple rounds of high-dose chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgery. Neuroblastoma is a hard to treat cancer, and there is no known cure for progressive or relapsed disease.

Message from Jim Sallis, Hibbing President of Local 173

This is Will, he is the grandson and great- grandson of two of our retired members, Fire Chief Orlando Abate & his son, Battalion Chief Lonnie Abate; both with a combined 62 years of service.

Any help would be appreciated to raise funds for Will's treatment.

Please call with any questions you may have.

Thank you to all in the MPFF who donate or even pass on the information, anything helps.

Have a great week and stay safe!

    Thanks again,

    Jim Sallis
