As with all of you, we are also trying to figure out the safest way possible to hold meetings and hold our convention. With the Covid 19 pandemic and the minute by minute changes on how and where we can meet, the MPFF Executive Board has voted to hold this year’s convention, virtually, on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020. This is in accordance with the IAFF Emergency Resolution adopted on May 4th, 2020, allowing state associations to reschedule their conventions and to hold those meetings via virtual/electronic means.
At this year’s convention we will be conducting only business that is required of the MPFF Constitution & By-Laws: Approving the 2021 budget, floor resolutions, choosing the 2022 convention site, and swearing-in of officers. This year there were no contested elections for the MPFF Board and no amendments to the MPFF Constitution and By-Laws were offered.
Prior to convention your District Vice President will host a virtual District meeting to present the proposed budget. The MPFF Secretary-Treasurer will be on hand to explain the budget and answer questions. The virtual meetings will take place on the GoTo Webinar and GoTo Meeting platforms. Training on how to use these meeting platforms will be provided.
I have attached the cover page for convention, Delegate / Alternate credential form, and the registration form.
Please fill out and return the forms ASAP to the MPFF office no later than September 15th, 2020. After the 15th you will be a late delegate/alternate and have to be seated by the floor. After I receive the forms, I will enter you into the webinar and it will send you a link to be able to sign into the convention.
I would like to thank Austin Local 598 for their efforts in attempting to host this year’s convention. We are disappointed in not being able to be your guests.
