The Minnesota Fire Service was on display at the Minnesota Capitol in Saint Paul last Wednesday for Fire Service Day at the Capitol. 116 Firefighter/lobbyists (including 50 MPFF members) attended individual meetings with 115 legislators to push for issues important to the fire service. 60% of the legislature had meetings with firefighters on Fire Service Day.
The agenda this year included 4 items: The Hometown Heroes Assistance Program, reimbursing fire department staffing costs associated with Military Leave, fire department protection taxing districts, and opposing legislation that limits the use of residential sprinkers.
